Teknion is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic for our night shift to ensure that all equipment is functioning as required.

Primary responsibilities

  • Perform a “walk” upon arrival. Ensure that all equipment is functioning as required.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair all machinery at designated location including but not limited to CNC machines, Paintline, Brake Presses, Punch Presses, and Conveyors. This involves the use of manual and powered hand tools.
  • Preventative Maintenance performed according to schedule. Primary responsibility for all machinery at designated location.
  • Machinery redesign/modifications and/or process improvement to include but not limited to fixtures, assembly jigs, carts, gauges, and guarding.
  • Minor electrical troubleshooting including, but not limited to, motors and fuses.
  • Abide by OHSA regulations and Teknion policy and procedures pertaining to Lock Out/Tag out, completing work orders, etc. Advise Management of actions taken.
  • Provide back up to other mechanics and locations on an as needed basis.
  • Verify machinery and equipment is shut down at end of shift.
  • Maintains safe and clean Maintenance area.
  • Maintains stock of commonly used spare parts.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Ability to read drawings and/or models.
  • Basic Programmable Logic Controller knowledge
  • Basic electrical theory and troubleshooting skills
  • Mathematical skills
  • Basic knowledge of Ontario Electrical Safety Code, OHSA, TSSA, and WHMIS.

  • Ability to operate manual and power hand tools including levels, compressors, drills, sanders etc.

Primary responsibilities

  • This incumbent is accountable for maintaining a log of all customer questions. This log is the primary tool for establishing customer concerns and monitoring trends of questions.

Teknion is currently hiring a full-time Manufacturing Engineer for our Tekform plant in our North York, ON location. The Manufacturing Engineer interacts with various departments to give technical support and make recommendations for the provision of adequate tools, equipment and methods to produce the most profitable product at the highest quality standard. The successful candidate will develop, improve and maintain the manufacturing capability to meet and exceed quality, safety and cost standards by applying lean manufacturing principles.

Primary responsibilities

  • Provide manufacturing data and suggestions to the Product Engineering, Design and Customer Service departments so that all manufacturing aspects are considered, to ensure effective production and interact with various departments through teamwork projects, to meet the company’s current and future objectives.

  • Ensure new product or engineering change implementations occur in production by supplying information to the involved parties, ordering proper equipment and tooling, implementing processes on the shop floor, approving products and updating engineering product drawings in the database.

  • Prototyping new products on the shop floor; preparing special samples and enduring the accuracy of product against design drawings.

  • Involvement with new product, process and quality planning (APQP), PPAP, BOM reviews, tooling reviews to support designed parts and process changes. Liaise with related departments for timely execution of the action items.

  • For existing and new products, analyze the costs, materials and labor requirements and as well, issue Engineering Change Requests, modify tooling, layouts (to improve capacity load of product) and material handling to constantly improve the manufacturing process.

  • Support ISO9001& ISO14001 process by issuing Process Control Sheets for all equipment, doing first off inspections and giving advice for equipment maintenance.

  • Liaise with vendors by developing specifications and participating in the design and commissioning of new equipment and/or installations.  Also coordinate and negotiate service contracts as necessary.

  • Ensure that the manufacturing equipment and manufacturing facilities are operational and safe by evaluating, recommending, developing and implementing preventative maintenance procedures which will also minimize production interruption/delays.

  • Support development and implementation of Health & Safety procedures, and then train and educate the shop floor personnel accordingly.

  • Keep the company aware of the current technological advances; introduce new technology and automation through justification analysis in order to achieve cost reduction, improve quality and the work environment; ensure necessary paperwork (C.A.R.A. form) is generated.

  • Support plant supervisors and lead hands to clarify drawings and special orders so that ship dates and customer expectations are met.

  • Support cost reduction programs and value added/value engineering opportunities.

  • Evaluate and approve Temporary Deviation Requests that could be generated internally or externally.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • University engineering degree or equivalent

  • P. Eng license preferred

  • Three - Five years experience in manufacturing environment.

  • Computer drafting (AutoCad, Solidworks,..) / Data analysis on spreadsheets / MS Office Applications / CNC Machining Process

  • Hands-on experience with process improvement projects, problem solving, and implementation success in Lean Manufacturing principles across the manufacturing material flow paths.

  • Knowledge and experience with variety of  manufacturing processes and materials (ie sheet metal, plastic, glass, wood)

  • Particle board, MDF, wood processing experience is a plus

The successful applicant must possess a background in design engineering of consumer products, be analytical, creative, clear headed, and be willing to work in a challenging and fast paced environment.

Primary responsibilities

  • Conceptualize mechanical solutions for a given need both alone and as a part of the design group.
  • Manage construction of prototypes.
  • Review, test, and draw conclusions from prototypes and testing.
  • Develop engineering drawings for purposes of prototyping and production.
  • Using CAD software, develop 3D models of parts and assemblies.
  • Perform theoretical engineering analysis on prospective designs.

  • To provide preliminary product cost estimates during development.
  • To cooperate with New Product Manufacturing in providing documentation, data and other information required for effective launch of products into full production.
  • To contribute to the development of new processes and tools that improve the concurrent development process and support Teknion’s lead position in the industry.
  • To provide engineering knowledge and expertise to other departments in the organization.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • 1-5 years experience as a design engineer in product development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited Post Secondary Institution.

The Export Coordinator is accountable for ensuring that all export shipments are executed in a cost effective and timely manner, according to established international standards and practices, as well as domestic policies and regulations pertaining to international transactions and movement of goods. The Export Coordinator will coordinate export shipments following Teknion’s policies and practices.  They will perform export related tasks in a proficient and timely manner, with minimal supervision.

Primary responsibilities

  • This incumbent is accountable for:

    1. Working effectively with various groups, such as carriers, freight forwarders, banks, trucking companies, international clients and Teknion associate companies. Internally, this position requires close coordination with other departments (finance, purchasing, packaging, shipping, courier office, consolidation centres, int’l sales, marketing), for cost-effective and timely logistic arrangements.
    2. Co-ordinating assigned orders for export, including consolidations with the Global Group of companies and other suppliers, for sea, ground or air shipments, as applicable.
    3. Preparing and submitting all export related documentation for international orders, to meet the import regulations in various countries.
    4. Coordinating shipments from various manufacturing locations in Canada and USA, to maximise container space usage and ensure proper documentation is issued for each container/shipment.
    5. Generating shipping plans and documentation, as well as examining export related documents for completeness and accuracy, amend and sign them, as required
    6. Handling letters of credit, documentary collections and other banking documents covering int’l shipments; any payment and cargo release instructions received from the Finance Dept must be implemented without delay.
    7. Obtaining certification of documents from Consular or other authorities, as required.

     

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Graduation from a recognised Export or International Trade program, B.S. diploma preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as an International Export Coordinator in a large company
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; proficiency in Spanish is an asset

The Accounts Receivable Specialist manages an AR Portfolio which includes both Canadian & US accounts.  Your role includes collection of Teknion’s outstanding sales invoices in order to maximize cash flow, mitigate credit risk within DSO and A/R Aging targets. You will engage with external Dealers, General Contractors and Direct Bill Accounts to address complex issues.  You will engage internal groups such as Order Entry, Customer Service, Sales, Finance, Invoicing, to resolve billing errors, discount adjustments, accounting issues etc. by requesting credit/debit notes and/or requesting payments.

Primary responsibilities

  • Maximize collection efficiency by managing a specific A/R portfolio meeting or exceeding A/R Metrics (Collection Amount, A/R Aging, DSO, minimize write-offs)

  • Collect outstanding receivables within credit terms by closely monitoring and follow up of accounts. Escalate in a timely manner.
  • Send monthly statements to Dealers, General Contractors and Direct Bill accounts highlighting past due & upcoming amounts to be paid.
  • Investigate and research payment discrepancies and process credit/debits as required
  • Engage with other departments, i.e. Customer Service, Order Entry, Shipping, Sales and Regional Offices to provide clarification and/or sign-off on billing discrepancies to allow the prompt processing of credit/debit adjustments.
  • Process Dealer invoices in a timely manner. Prepare and enter credit/debit notes upon approval.

  • Document customer file with contact information, collection activity and updated comments on disputed invoices on shared files.

  • Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance efficiencies.

Primary responsibilities

  • The Senior Compensation Analyst is accountable for administering and maintaining a company-wide compensation program.  To achieve this, the incumbent is responsible for the following functions:

    • Studying and analyzing wage and/or salaried positions and preparing position descriptions in standardized form.

    • Evaluating positions using established evaluation systems.

    • Participating in selected salary surveys, and analyzing/interpreting survey results.

    • Determining and establishing salary grades and salary ranges.

  • This incumbent is accountable for developing compensation and benefits policies and procedures that support Teknion’s business practices, and are in accordance with government laws and regulations, as well as determining the effectiveness of existing programs, policies and procedures and recommending revisions accordingly.

  • This position is responsible for advising and coaching management, inclusive of training or conducting employee information sessions, on issues regarding Teknion’s compensation, benefits and/or performance management program.

  • This incumbent is accountable for ensuring compliance with government regulations (i.e. employment standards act, pay equity, etc.).

Primary responsibilities

Estimation Creation

  • Calculates pricing for special requests based on
  • information provided by Clients/Dealers,
  • understanding of product application,
  • drawings created by the specials design engineering,
  • costs provided by suppliers (Including material, labour, setup, etc),
  • understanding or specific knowledge of the manufacturing process and established markups provided by the finance department.
  • Inputs pricing information into Price-It and inform Clients/Dealers when applicable.
  • Support specifiers and /or project managers in the creation of pricing for non standard product
  • Provide explanation and analysis of cost variances if applicable

Database/File Maintenance

  • Establish and build on pricing procedures to ensure pricing for special are consistent and accurate
  • Maintains integrity of pricing database and ensure that pricing for similar specials are consistent with each other and with the Price and Product Guide.
  • Maintains current and accurate files to support the calculation of pricing.
  • Continuously seeks new ways and utilizes new technologies to improve the accuracy of the pricing process and database integrity.
  • Updates obsolete pricing as required to reflect increased supplier costs and Price and Product Guide updates.

Product/Price Audits

  • Ensures that product codes and descriptions used in special price requests are correct.
  • Checks and audits pricing to ensure that information provided is accurate.
  • Ensures that each price request, already having a completed engineering drawing within the drawing database, has an attached drawing number that is verified by the specials design engineering .

Supplier Liaison

  • Communicates with suppliers to obtain accurate and formal quotes.
  • Negotiates with suppliers to ensure that quoted prices are fair and provide a reasonable opportunity for Teknion to make their profit margins.
  • Reviews and compares quotes from existing suppliers to ensure no large cost discrepancies exist for similar material from one quote to another.
  • Works with suppliers and purchasing dept to coordinate buying and delivery of product samples for testing/prototyping, as required by Engineering.

Customer Liaison

  • Liaises with dealerships and other Teknion departments on pricing issues and answers questions as required with respect to the pricing of specials.
  • Coordinate with clients/dealers for sample approval for non standard product. Including shipping and receiving control samples to provide Manufacturing/Quality.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma from an accredited Post Secondary Institution with a minimum of 2 years related experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Technical background (eg. Technologist) or experience (eg. As an estimator in a manufacturing or architectural field)
  • Strong knowledge of the working of PC, Excel and a word processing package.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and manufacturing BOMs

Primary responsibilities

  • Perform a “walk” upon arrival and ensure that all equipment is functioning as required.
  • Create, document & input programs, program changes and troubleshoot for machines.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair all machinery at designated locations. This involves the use of manual or powered hand tools machining equipment.
  • Refurbish electronic control board; troubleshoot, repair, replace and perform preventative maintenance for all electrical equipment including switches, relays, control systems, sensors etc. using various tools including soldering guns, scopemeter, megometer, multimeter etc.
  • Responsible for the operation of robots in the plant. Reprogram robots approximately 5-6 times per shift for welding changes.
  • Provide training for machine operators on how to change to pre-set programs, document changes and updates, utilizing various software if required.
  • Machinery redesign/modifications and/or process improvement to include but not limited to fixtures, assembly jigs, carts, gauges, and guarding.

Teknion is currently hiring a full-time BOM Controller for our Roytec plant in Woodbridge, ON. The successful candidate will maintain the Manufacturing System’s item master, bill of materials and routing. Ensure that all item, BOM and routing information within the system is complete and accurate. The BOM Controller must coordinate with Engineering, Materials and Production to deliver material requirements on-time to meet the required customer demand.

Primary responsibilities

  • Create bill of materials and routing from detailed drawings to support the design of special products. This function includes the entering of all component parts with all related information in the customized item data, creating the bill of material (BOM) in customized format, and creating and attaching routing (ROU) in customized format.
  • Liaise with Specials Designer, Materials and Production to ensure that drawing and routing information is correct and complete as provided and entered.
  • As required, process post Launch clean-up engineering change orders (ECO).
  • As required, process TFS Manufacturing engineering changes.  This includes updating all part numbers, bill of materials, routing and all related Engineering Data Management (EDM) processes, i.e. revision #’s.
  • Maintain the existing part numbering system in the Item Master (ITM), ensuring correct data set-up of all MRP and PRP codes.
  • Randomly audit and root-cause related bill of materials inquiries.  Resolve and document production floor issues with Engineering and Manufacturing Systems. Support process improvement projects (Lean Office)

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Diploma/degree in manufacturing systems related course from an accredited post-secondary institution or related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Computer literate with (preferably) a technical background.
  • Related experience in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Experience using a mainstream ERP system (i.e. Infor, Oracle, SAP, etc.). Preferred experience in Baan.

  • Act as the primary contact to resolve quality concerns through Teknion’s Tekcare process.
  • Promptly complete Quality Alerts, communicate (with sign-off) and train the production team with back up and/or non standard methods until permanent corrective actions are implemented.

  • Lead and Drive Root Cause analysis meetings by using 8D, 5 Whys methodology both internally and at supplier locations as required, validate permanent corrective actions and document Lessons Learned.

  • Implement, update and approve internal work instructions and data sheets on production lines ensuring all necessary inspections are included and that the related measuring equipment is available.

  • Organize and perform gage R&R studies.  Perform measurements and data collection on engineering samples, record SPC data and coordinate line trail data collection.

  • Develop, prioritize, analyze and graph the data collected from the Quality Technicians highlighting top Quality issues per production line. Work on reducing Quality issues through Continuous Improvement.

  • Complete weekly claims summary and ensure the quality indicators and targets are well tracked, documented and communicated.

  • Utilize Statistical Process Controls where appropriate to monitor and improve the manufacturing process.

  • Travel to job sites as required identifying and/or resolving quality issues. Ensure that all chargeable service work or purchased mock-ups are documented.

  • Practical knowledge of ISO-9000, ISO14001 standards, PPAP, Control Plans, PFMEA and analytical tools.

  • Responsible for initiating and evaluating Temporary Deviation Requests that are generated internally or externally when required.
