Over the past six years, Teknion has fostered a relationship with International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) to achieve WELL Building Standard (WELL) certifications—a performance-based system for measuring, certifying, and monitoring features of the built environment that impact human health and well-being.

In 2022, Teknion enrolled in WELL at scale, formerly WELL Portfolio,  to allow the company to measure and improve its organizational health performance, and its impact across every location. Rather than focusing on one showroom at a time, it allows Teknion to have an efficient and impactful organizational approach to health while extending similar health and well-being standards and benefits internally to its employees. WELL benchmarks an organization’s achievements across the following categories: air, water, nourishment, light, movement, thermal comfort, sound, materials, mind, community, and innovation. As of 2023, Teknion reaches 38 locations across seven countries and impacts 3,093 occupants.

“I’m excited to embrace and implement WELL strategies that will benefit our employees across the globe and throughout all of our facilities,” says Tracy Backus, director of sustainable programs  at Teknion. “When people work and live in a healthy built and natural environment, they become motivated to improve their personal well-being. We find that what’s best for the planet is what’s best for people. We know it works because we are measuring the impact of WELL throughout the organization.”

The company’s business model has always been one that makes decisions based on achieving peak environmental and employee performance. By applying multiple features of the WELL Building Standard to the entire organization’s 3.1 million square feet, Teknion’s home-grown initiatives also serve as a strategic partner to its customers – helping to create certifiably healthy workspaces that drive productivity all while utilizing Teknion products that meet WELL standards.

Teknion continues to grow its relationship with IWBI and further implement WELL at scale to achieve a unified vision for health and well-being for its built environments and employees alike. For more information, please visit teknion.com
