Teknion is proud to announce that Routes, designed by Pearson Lloyd, has been named as an  honoree in the Office Furniture category at the 2022 Metropolis Planet Positive Awards. Routes allows teams to create flexible, utility-driven, and engaging workspaces quickly and efficiently, breaking with convention and introducing a sense of play into the world of work. The product line extension enables greater agility with new tables, seating, and a TV cart. These pieces invite users to take full control over how and where they work, empowering collaboration, whether in person or remotely with a consolidated kit of parts.

“We chose to expand Routes shortly after its initial, positive release for a reason,” says David Feldberg, President and CEO of Teknion. “Continuing to evolve a family of products that benefits the built environment and the people within it is how we remain innovative. People have fully embraced the ability to adapt their work environment and, with Routes, we are also learning how to continuously evolve with their needs.”

Each of Routes’ four new table options are intended to be used alone or grouped together to form various configurations based on the needs of the user. The Agile Tables accommodate larger meetings and feature casters at one end, gliding easily from one side. At 30 inches deep, the High Tables function as double-sided worksurfaces. They are available with levelers for more permanent applications, or with casters if mobility is desired. The Partner Tables are intended for screen-sharing applications with a tapered work surface profile to optimize sightlines. Offered in three different heights, these tables accommodate a range of postures for more active and engaging use. Like the Multi-Use Stool—now offered with an optional Halo Cushion in expanded textile design options for added comfort—the new SoloMini Tables are small enough for users to lift and move. Perfect for individual or collaborative work, these tables are also stackable and easy to store.

Further extending the collection’s flexible workplace seating options, the Workshop Chair accommodates 360-degree seating postures, including side sitting and straddle sitting on the T-back model. Users can pull up a chair or backless stool to the new Media Rover, producing an interactive digital experience between present and remote workers that effortlessly moves around the office to create a destination and solution for digital collaboration.

“Routes being honored for its sustainable innovativeness is quite the heartwarming merit,” says Luke Pearson, designer at Pearson Lloyd. “The collection will hopefully continue to positively impact its users and the locations it resides in,” adds Tom Lloyd, designer at Pearson Lloyd.

Now in its second year, Metropolis’s Planet Positive Awards recognizes the most creative projects and products from around the world that benefit people and the planet. Judged by industry experts across project types and product categories, the winners and honorable mentions represent the highest achievements today in design that addresses climate change, ecosystem health, human health, and equity.
