Teknion announced today that two recently launched products presented at NeoCon 2021 have been recognized with a prestigious Best of NeoCon Award. Essa received a Gold award in the Seating: Ergonomic Desk/Task category and Byward was awarded Silver in the Case Goods category.
A staple of NeoCon since 1990, Best of NeoCon is the official awards program honoring outstanding new products from exhibiting companies. Products are evaluated and selected for innovative design over a two-day in-person review by a diverse jury of leading architects, designers, specifiers, and facility managers with expertise spanning commercial, healthcare, institutional, and hospitality sectors.
“Since we last presented at NeoCon in 2019, changes that impact office design have been significant,” says Joe Regan, Senior VP, Manufacturing, Design & Corporate Marketing at Teknion. “We’ve worked closely with our designers and design partners to rethink what is necessary for the way work is evolving. With a refined approach, Essa and Byward provide style and scale suitable for dynamic office spaces. Essa and Byward’s recognition at Best of NeoCon is an honor, and we are proud to share this award with other industry leaders.”
Essa is a light task chair designed by PearsonLloyd for Teknion. With a name derived from the word essence, Essa captures a pure, sculptural shape within a pared-down scale. As offices gravitate toward a more relaxed and comfortable aesthetic, the demand for a light and less technical task chair has emerged. Promoting natural shifts in position, Essa is ideal for an array of applications including, mobile work and active work settings. Essa is modern, refined, and receptive. The sweep of its back is echoed by the fluid line of molded armrests. The chair is offered fully upholstered or upholstered with plastic back options. Visual and tactile richness is added with Luum Textiles that encase the seat and curved backrest.
Byward is a new case goods line that is designed to be simple, versatile, and affordable. Composed of ten core products, the collection combines streamlined design, dimensions and material construction to enable dynamic, cost-effective planning. Desk and storage units are freestanding, finished on all sides, and readily adaptable to changes in workflow or space allocation. Cabinets and tower dimensions are trimmed from depths of 20-24 inches to a lean 14 inches deep, providing a lighter scale than traditional case goods. Each storage unit features an elevated open base that also contributes to a light aesthetic, with the added functionality of a base shelf.
