During Chicago Design Days 2026, Teknion celebrates the debut of IKONstudio, also shown in the Studio TK space, by integrating
these historically relevant pieces into modern planning styles. The Brand’s Fulton Market showroom space at 800 W Fulton, 7th floor (entrance at 311 North Green St) will explore the intelligence of well-made things, where thoughtfully curated
objects, materials, and settings uncover a new layer of meaning to how we work and gather.
This year’s showroom display is anchored by a celebration of the IKONstudio brand, a new platform dedicated to bringing iconic works of architectural furniture into contemporary life, with inaugural collections drawn from the archives of two
legends of 20th-century design—Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) and Louis Kahn. Reinterpreted with the materials and sensibility of today, these mid-20th-century pieces don’t evoke the past so much as elevate the present; as illustrated
this year in the cohesion between IKONstudio pieces, elegant LUUM fabrics, and Teknion’s innovative furniture solutions.
“Design Days allows us to take a step back and ask the bigger questions about how the spaces and furnishings we create shape the way people think, move, and connect,” says David Feldberg, President & CEO of Teknion.
“IKONstudio is where that thinking took us this year, and how we can honor these historic designs while breathing new life into their application for today.”
New and recently launched product innovations from Teknion will also be showcased, further reflecting the brand’s commitment to designing with intent and for meaningful progress:
IKONstudio’s SOM 79 Table and Chair
Designed by SOM's Charles Pfister in 1979 for Halston's New York atelier, the SOM79 chair sits at the intersection of fashion and architecture. Its cantilevered steel frame delivers comfort through structure rather than padding, with an architectural
clarity that allows it to move between settings.
The SOM79 table is a new addition to the product family and continues the same design language. A continuous chrome frame supports a glass surface that keeps the structure visible and the overall form light. It works equally as a dining
table, a work surface, or a gathering point.
IKONstudio’s SOM 79 Table and Chair
The SOM76 collection was designed for IBM's World Headquarters in Armonk, New York. Designed to support shared environments, the SOM76 Collection provides structured seating for conversation, collaboration, and everyday use.
IKONstudio’s LK53: Radbill Chair and Tables
Originally designed for the Radbill Oil Company in the mid-1940s, the Radbill chair and table share a common architectural language: angled profiling, structural clarity, and restrained detailing. The table's grounded mass echoes the weight and permanence
of Kahn's built forms; the fully-upholstered chair lends color, warmth and comfort to its boardroom context.
IKONstudio’s LK48: Genel Seating
Developed in the early 1950s for the Genel Residence near Philadelphia, the seating was originally conceived as modular by Kahn, using movable rectangular arm pillows to accommodate a range of body positions. It was initially arranged in a conversation
area facing a fireplace, allowing the configuration to adapt to different functions and group settings.
IKONstudio’s LK47: Weiss Table
Designed for the M.L. Weiss House (1947–1950), the Weiss table’s strong horizontal plane and structured supports echo the disciplined geometry of the residence, while its scale remains firmly rooted in human use.
Flotte Chair (preview - launches Fall 26)
The Flotte chair is a premium seating solution for private offices and high-end conference rooms. Its design is inspired by the delicate, intentional gesture of enfolding a precious object. Flotte’s minimal, flowing silhouette echoes a philosophy
in which every line serves a purpose, bisected by a signature gap between the backrest and seat, which creates an architectural lightness without compromising structural integrity.
Nuri Chair (preview - launches Fall 2026)
Nuri balances a light aesthetic with a strong feature set, elevating the standard for entry-level seating. Designed for the pace of an active workday, it offers smooth support and a clean, modern profile, reaching beyond utility to defy its accessible price point. Whether configured as a streamlined essential or a fully equipped performance chair, Nuri remains stylish, responsive, and remarkably comfortable.
Refinements and enhancements to Zones and Routes, long successful products for Teknion, will be shown, as well as a reinterpretation of the private office with casegood line Dossier.
