Teknion, a global leader in workplace furniture and design, is proud to announce the launch of Blink, an elevated multi-use chair featuring harmonious aesthetics, innovative ergonomics and sustainability-driven design. Created in partnership with Formway, Blink is designed to deliver intuitive comfort the instant you sit – to support the needs of today's hybridworkplaces with minimal user adjustment.

Blink’s hidden intelligence is centered on movement. The shell is precision-molded with over a thousand perforations, creating a breathable, flexible surface to sit into. The shell draws inspiration from impact-absorbing auxetic patterns, honeycomb, and lattice-like structures known for their ability to flex and contour to curved forms. Traditionally, auxetic patterns—complex geometric structures that counterintuitively expand when stretched—are seen in high-performance applications in the medical, athletic, and protective clothing fields.  Blink applies this principle through a precision-molded pattern of varying cuts, depths, and spacing, allowing the chair’s shell to stretch and contract with the body.

The chair also features a patented Keel Mechanism, which provides dynamic movement to respond to the user’s body shifts, automatically calibrated based on bodyweight. This lets the chair respond to the user’s shifts in posture during both focused and collaborative work, without breaking their flow. Internal gears ensure the chair’s movement is always controlled, while high-performance springs create tension as the user leans back, cradling them into a smooth, controlled sit.

“Blink really subverts the expectation of a plastic chair, and addresses previous shortfalls such as comfort, aesthetics, and sustainability,” says Julia La, Seating Product Manager at Teknion. “It moves with your body, isn’t overly complicated to adjust, and was designed to be visually compelling first and foremost.”

While the chair’s responsiveness feels effortless, it is the result of an intensive four-year exploration and an additional 18 months of refinement. Before production began, the design and manufacturing team explored more than 500 unique variants and tested dozens of shell surfaces, perimeters, and grid structures to achieve the final design.

“One of our key goals for this product was to introduce task-chair level comfort to a chair with a more casual, simple, and residential look,” says Josh Bruderer, Lead Designer at Formway. “We think that this balance of performance and aesthetic will be a crucial differentiator, and Blink will lead the way in creating a new category of deceptively simple-looking, comfortable, and sustainable chairs.”

Blink demonstrates a commitment to sustainability with over 73% recycled content, reducing carbon content by 30% through the use of regenerated nylon and recycled polypropylene. Guided by a reduction-first philosophy, the design limits waste and material consumption from the outset, reducing overall environmental impact rather than relying solely on end-of-life recyclability. Blink also provides material transparency through EPD and Declare documentation, along with environmental certifications including BIFMA Level 3 and SCS Indoor Air Quality Gold, ensuring clear and accurate sustainability reporting.

The chair’s strong expression is reflected in its fully dipped design, with a palette of eight playful finishes that color-drench the chair from top to bottom. Featuring a head-to-toe uniform look that conveys a sleek, high-end feel, Blink is available in a range of colors, including Ebony, Atrium White, Dimpse, Tidal Pool, Red Beryl, Powder Pink, Chalk Blue, and Pine Forest. This refined look results from intelligent material selection, clever mechanisms, precision engineering, and the combined expertise of Teknion and Formway, delivering a chair that is as considered as it is compelling.
