Luum Textiles has officially launched Craft Work, the newest collection by Creative Director Dorothy Cosonas. Drawing inspiration from art and fashion, the collection transforms the distinct characteristics of hand techniques and modern machine methods into materials that are as uncommon as they are practical while holding true to Luum Textiles’ core commitments of good design, usability, and sustainability.

Craft Work comprises six new products: three upholsteries, one multipurpose, one woven wallcovering, and one drapery produced in collaboration with six skilled mills from around the world. Together, the collection forms a fresh visual language tied together by a forward-looking color sense and a celebration of considered details and pattern.

Gigi

Gigi brings the essence of couture’s sophisticated elegance to the real-world expectations of commercial interiors. Offered in an alluring palette of eight rich and nuanced tones that are not only classic but forward-thinking, Gigi makes a smart choice for multiple applications. Inspired by tweed suiting, the mill was initially provided with imagery to develop hand prototypes that were refined through multiple iterations and then translated for mill production. Gigi maintains a crafted character with a unique blend of boucle and specialized circular knitted yarns in both the warp and weft. This multidimensional weave combines polyester, viscose, acrylic, wool, and cotton to create a varied and luxurious, soft and textured surface that at the same time maintains structural integrity required for high abrasion needs.

Roam

Inspired by abstract details from Gustav Klimt’s landscapes, Roam is an all-over textural constellation of color. This upholstery’s organic and speckled look is achieved by using a high-twist tri-color boucle yarn in the weft. The studied color and value placement create an unexpected and dynamic surface, where each tone appears to float above the ground. The palette of 10 colorways ranges from moody neutrals to midtones and unexpected brights. Roam’s visual strength is complemented by high durability and soft hand.

Dori

Dori's one-of-a-kind, multicolor design conveys a contemporary look through its combination of handcraft techniques and machine methods. Influenced by color theory, woven art, and fashion, Dori draws inspiration from Josef Albers' color work, Loewe's ready-to-wear pieces derived from Anni Albers' weavings, and the tactile mixed-media art of Joana Choumali. Each section of this upholstery is embroidered separately on a recycled polyester and linen base cloth. The tightly packed stitching reveals a surprising interplay of color, texture, and stitch types that creates a durable surface suited for contract spaces. Available in seven colorways ranging from calm neutrals to uplifting brights, Dori brings a new and poetic presence to any interior.

Haze

Haze is a versatile, bleach-cleanable multipurpose textile that elevates a simple basket weave with a chenille yarn in the weft. Woven using 75% recycled polyester, the undyed greige goods undergo a specialized cationic and disperse piece-dye process to create their nuanced two-tone heathered look. This process creates an interplay of light and shadow that is as pleasing to the touch as it is to the eye. Haze’s color line features an expansive range of 16 colorways of approachable neutrals and deep hues like marine blue, ginger, coral, and periwinkle for use on wrapped walls, panels, screens, and upholstery.

Etch

Etch brings a fresh approach to Luum Textile’s direct glue wall offering and bleach-cleanable woven wallcoverings. The micro chenille in the weft produces movement on the surface with a subtle cross-hatch effect. Its elegant dry surface and recycled content make it an environmentally conscious choice that seams beautifully for a continuous, architectural look. Bleach-cleanable and durable, Etch provides a refined, tactile backdrop, making it a go-to solution for a wide variety of interior environments.

Calm

Calm is a wide-width, digitally printed ombré drapery that derives its color and design sense from nature and fashion. Woven in 100% Trevira® CS polyester and then printed, this sophisticated semi-sheer pattern has an uninterrupted flow of colors with a painterly watercolor effect. The gradual color and tonal shifts transition from light to dark in a seamless sequence of five colors. Available in six colorways, Calm can serve as either an enticing backdrop or the focal point in any environment.

The Craft Work collection marks another chapter in Luum Textiles’ ongoing commitment to design excellence and sustainability. "In our world, so much can often look the same. At Luum, we continue to work closely with specialty mills and suppliers to help us stand out from the crowd," says Cosonas.
