Teknion, a global leader in workplace furniture and design, is proud to announce the launch of Advanced Concepts 2.0, an ambitious program dedicated to exploring the evolving dynamics of the contemporary workplace. Guided by the core theme of “Generation Everyone,” the initiative redefines how office environments are approached, emphasizing wellness, spatial efficiency, adaptability, and livability.

Advanced Concepts 2.0 views design as a dynamic interplay between function, form, and the human experience. The program is designed to address the complexities of today’s multi-generational workforce, while also recognizing that many workplace needs are universal. Although narratives often suggest that Gen Z is redefining work and Gen Alpha is bringing new expectations, such labels can overlook the common ground we share as human beings. Across generations, people want to feel engaged, to contribute, and to experience both purpose and connection. Through the creation of physical design concepts, Advanced Concepts 2.0 explores these dynamics in tangible, interactive ways. The 2025 concepts prioritize flexibility, agency, and sustainability—design principles that bridge generational differences and create workplaces capable of adapting to the evolving realities of modern work.

"At Teknion, we believe that understanding and anticipating the future of work is crucial to creating spaces that empower both businesses and the people who drive them," said David Feldberg, President and CEO of Teknion. "Our research for Advanced Concepts 2.0 quickly revealed universal themes. Most of us want to feel engaged at work, and no one benefits from an inefficient workspace. The desire for purpose and real connection is all-inclusive, regardless of age or digital fluency."

The initial phase of Advanced Concepts 2.0 features three concepts, all expertly conceived by Toronto-based Dubbeldam Architecture + Design, an award-winning firm renowned for its sustainable and innovative approach. Each concept responds to the need for adaptable workplaces that give people agency and autonomy over how they work.

● PetPod: A new take on wellness in the office

● Roam Mobile Workstation: Explores flexibility in an office, using now and near technologies such as autonomous vehicles and induction charging

● Nimbus Adaptive Architectural System: Turning office design upside down – planning from the ceiling down.

“Design is most impactful when it responds to people—their needs, their habits, and their desire for meaningful connection," said Heather Dubbeldam, Principal of Dubbeldam Architecture + Design. "It has the power to shape the quality of life for occupants, prioritizing wellness, sustainability, and a sense of agency in their environment. Our collaboration with Teknion on Advanced Concepts 2.0 allowed us to push boundaries, creating concepts for adaptable environments that empower individuals in the workplace and reflect the evolving culture of work.”

Teknion's initial explorations from Advanced Concepts 2.0 will be on display at the Teknion New York Showroom, located at 641 Avenue of the Americas, Second Floor, New York, NY 10011, USA, from October to December 2025. The exhibit will also travel to Toronto in January 2026 as part of the Interior Design Show (IDS), extending the reach of these advanced workplace ideas.
